t-shirt update

zzzbambam30.jpg
These are the four t-shirt designs I plan on debuting with:
1. I’m blogging this.
2. The Market for something to believe in is infinite.
3. XYZ Complete fucking asshole.
4. I can’t take this shit anymore.
Unless they’re mass howls of protest, that’s not a bad start.
Another thought: Though I will start with 200 shirts in a limited edition, I reserve the right to raise or lower that number in future editions, if the demand justifies it. Maybe the “200” number is realistic, maybe it isn’t. I’ll know more as events unfold, and will keep you updated.
But I won’t reprint a design, once it’s been released.
Secondly, I’ll have a subscription service for people who want to collect them all. So a new design is automatically sent to you upon release, and money is automatically deducted from your credit card, until you elect to unsubscribe. Thanks to Markus for suggesting that idea.
Obvioulsy, to subscribe right away I’d need to take a large chunk of money off you, to pay for four shirts. I might spread that out over monthly payments or whatever.
Sounds like a plan?

The Market for Something to Believe In is Infinite.
I love the concept. Really says something. What puzzles me in the graphic. It sort of looks like somebody’s butt and there is something being expelled from it. I can read that any number of ways.

  2. gia says:

Will you just be producing Tshirts in big ‘man’s’ sizes or will there be a skinny T sexy lady’s version as well?

  3. hugh macleod says:

there will be all sorts of sizes available.
tim– it’s an abstract. if it looks like a butt to you, that’s your freudian schtick, not mine ;-)

  4. How come nobody reads my blog?

  5. cynthia says:

it’s not a butt, it’s a snatch. the source of all meaning.

    Meaningful Snatch! Yay!

  8. Peter says:

Can I have mine made bespoke? I’ll send in all the appropriate measurements.

  9. Miguel says:

I love the idea for the subscription. Where and when do we sign up?

  10. I definitely want a vintage XYZ model.
And, when the “brands are places” ones come out, I’ll want several of those!
    ;-]

  11. hugh macleod says:

The subscription will be in place once the e-commerce website is up. Starting to get that built once I have the deal signed with the screenprinter.
Hopefully we’ll have something up around April 1 or so.

  12. Jack Cheng says:

Will they just be plain black/white tees? You’d probably get more out subscription model if there were a variety of colors. One of the cool things about a subscription from a place like threadless is the surprise factor involved in getting a new shirt in the mail. More colors = more surprises.

  13. hugh macleod says:

    Fair enough, Jack.
Probably just start with black & white.
Sure, maybe consider color down the line, but no point getting to carried away too soon.
This is more of a “Sex” thing than a “Cash” thing, so I’m not going to kill myself trying to figure out all the various ways to extract money from my poor, hapless readers.

  14. Yes I’m for the subscription service, that’s a fabulous idea.

  15. Jon says:

I’ll take a Large “Market” shirt please!!!

  16. A Great Blogging T-shirt

Though someone will say this other one is more appropriate for me .

I loved “I can’t take this shit…” Had it on my desktop for a week two months ago after I’d firmly decided to quit copywriting — then took two new assignments in the space of 24 hours.
I’ll seriously think about signing up for the lot, though I’m not so sure I want to walk around with the word “fuck” on my chest. It beats “fcuk” anyway.

personally i’ve always been partial to http://www.gapingvoid.com/Moveable_Type/archives/000244.html the x = full of ideas, y = full of shit, z = full of shit ideas
just feels more true to your message and rings strong for all marketing people. that said, maybe complete fucking asshole has a broader audience — especially as a gift item.

  19. devilatwork says:

since its a limited edition keep it expensive, very expensive. (know it may not conform to the sex n cash theory) but a high art price might be the way to go.

  20. Caitycat says:

    SHIRTS! YES! must… have… shirts… (slavish consumeroid drool.…)

  21. nathan says:

will ya be sending throughout the whole world. Im in the Netherlands ya see (and I’d still like a shirt)… :-)

  22. hugh macleod says:

The shirts will be made in the UK, and shipped worldwide. So yeah, extra postage for some, but who cares?
