Software tends to be designed around addressing a bundle of requirements necessary and relevant to a target audience or market. Take any MS product, identify the top 10 requirements it was designed to address and then rate how well it addresses each of those requirements. Next, pick *ANY* competitive product and rate it with respect to the same set of requirements. The typical result, even with the most heinous and egregiously biased judge, is that the MS product is qualitatively better when it comes to meeting the necessary and relevant requirements.
Nonetheless, feel free to continue to whine and bitch and complain that things should be better, GODDAMNIT. Or that M$ WindBlows is teh suck!!!!!!!!

They're not all boring: Word is a brilliant name. For some reason it makes me think of
"In the beginning was the Word,
(and the Word was with Office, and the Word was Office. The same was in the beginning with Microsoft. All things were made by Microsoft; and without Microsoft was not any thing made that was made. In Microsoft was life; and the life was the light of office productivity.)"
Etc.
...this is what happens when I'm tired.

To clarify, this is a quote from BBSpot, a spoof site. I'm generally not quite THAT blunt. :)
