the hard stuff

Tom Guarriello addresses Microsoft’s Robert Scoble in an earlier gapingvoid post:
But, those years mean lots of frustrated folks who’ve spent hundreds of hours in Customer Support support conversations which all too often ended with the phrase, “well, looks like you’ve have to re-install Windows,” to have the words “simple” and “playful” come to mind when they see the name Microsoft. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an “Evil Empire” guy, but that’s a lot of miles to travel.
Yes Tom, but if it were easy, we wouldn’t bother talking about it. We’d talk about something else.
The interesting thing about business is the hard stuff. Better off leaving the easy stuff to the hacks.

Hugh:The card is just GR8 !!! ..its out’a of the world .. I am going to order them darn things ..does it take a couple of days to hit the cardstore. Anyway, I’ll take a look and if not’s there this PM and it will be snafu time –I’ll send you email !!
back to business…actually the interesting thing about business is the opposite.. Most biz, think thats easy– even an averagely stupid person should be able to do that.. and they dont even train the Support staff on that..(whatever that is !!)– so the easy hacks are what most customer feel dissapointed on. The basis of support is always an error between the keyboard and the chair !!
Amen the hard stuff is what’s worth doing. Next time I try to do something the easy way will be the first!
in Microsoft’s case, does the “hard stuff” mean Microsoft changing or us convincing Microsoft they need to change?

I have probably read “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” too recently, for my reaction to the card is “Tell them what?” Though I do agree that the job of a CEO quite often is to give people money to fuck off.…
Yeah, Espen, I should’ve put commas after “people” and “money”
This card is not avialable in the cardstore ..
