art gallery

I am looking to start selling art again.
I’m looking to find interesting galleries in The Pacific Rim: Silicon Valley/San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Tokyo, Tai Pei, Hong Kong etc.
Of course, I am not limited to this region exclusively. It’s just where a lot of my focus is heading these days.
Traditionally, you’re supposd to find a gallery in New York, which is the center of the international art market. But methinks the NY art scene wouldn’t quite “get” what I’m up to. “Preservation Agents” and all that.
If you have a relationship with a gallery who you think would click with my work, please let me know, or send them a link to gapingvoid.
Sure, galleries are easy enough to find on the net, but I prefer personal introductions.
Thanks.
E-mail: hugh at gapingvoid etc.
(A brief intro to my work is here.)

A wee chuckle to start your day off right etc.

Thanks, Christopher
Sadly, they want a $15 review fee.
If you know the people personally, it might be better for you to tell them about me, rather than have YET ONE MORE starving artist stalking them etc.
Thanks again =)
How about Vancouver ? Too small ? although from what I understand, the art that’s been emanating from here, and a couple of the galleries, have made Vancouver, over the last decade, one of the top 4or 5 cities in North America for art aficionados.
It’s been described as the world’s first pomo city, tho’ I’m not quite sure what that means (I have some interpretations, which have helped me to think whomever said it might be write).
Lots of people coming here from all over the world these days, tho ’ to visit and live … and then there’s the 2010 Olympics. So, lots of buistle for the next five years.
if interested, let me know and we’lll see what we can come up with.
Vancouver would be very cool, Jon. Just added it to the list.
Thanks =)
de nada. there are a ton of galleries in the south of market (soma) area of sf; perhaps some of them don’t have the review fee like the canvas does.
also…just found this list. most of the openings listings seem to have contact info for the respective galleries.

Hugh, do you know of sixspace here in L.A.? Caryn Coleman & Sean Bonner (of art.blogging.la and blogging.la, respectively) run it and they are super-nice, super-tasteful kids who Get It. Sixspace is here:

It also occurs to me that La Luz de Jesus might be good, as well. They’re pretty cartoonist-friendly:

The problem with putting your work in a gallery is that you will have to be surrounded by art snobs!
Fuck art galleries, and fuck the snobs that dwell within!
The internet IS an art gallery! It’s the art gallery of the people. Almost anyone can put their useless shit on a webpage for anyone else to see, and the only inane comments you have to deal with are messages like this one that get sent to you from the vast unwashed masses (me), but at least all you have to do is click delete and my nonsensical ramblings will dissapear. Yay!
