techno-progresso
You’re exactly wrong. Keep up the bad work. Steve Gillmor just said that to me, on the phone, as a way of summarizing why it’s a Good Thing that the mainstream media continue to misunderstand podcasting, just like the misunderstood blogging, the Web, the Net, the PC, and all the other good things that came along and flourished under an unintentional smokescreen of widespread misunderstanding.
We keep telling ourselves we’re waiting for “the mainstream” to “get it”.
Something to do with some sort of techo-progresso-utopian schtick we’re always yakkin’ on about etc.
In fact, we’re just waiting for the mainstream to start giving us their money. Them “getting it” just makes that scenario A LOT more likely.
The techno-progresso schtick is just there to make us seem less squirly to our peers.
Yeah … it’s just a frame … something to keep us distracted and pre-occupied while the real world keeps lumbering along. The techno-progress utopianism isn’t really happening .. we just think it is because we say it is, and link to it.
I’ve always wanted to be a “sell-out.” Pity I can’t find any buyers.
