It's either that or write a manifesto in your blog.

11 years in PR, communications, what not. Done everything from dot bombs, consumer stuff and back to tech.
One day last year my son (now five) said to me 'daddy, are all commercials just lying?'
Things are OK, I haven't gone over to the dark side. No lovemarks for me.
Colleen's right - it's a tool. It's business. It's how we make a living. Make it interesting for yourself or only work with clients and causes that you are excited about. Figure out what that is and do it.

"Then the question is, well, how do you get the spark back?"
Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you just walk away.
But if you want to stay, I think the trick (if it is a trick) is to ask yourself some questions: why did I get into this business? what, if anything, still excites me about my work (or my life, or my relationships)? what would it look like if I could conduct business in a way that interested me?
Of course the irony is if you do a good job asking and answering the questions, you're not going to "stay" anything. You'll be undergoing some monumental change, you betcha.
As for marketing being the devil, that's just crap. It's a tool--no more, no less. Whether you want to use it for good or evil is up to you...
