OK, what’s the deal with Gaw­ker? They allo­wed the world’s most anno­ying ban­ner ad ever to be pos­ted on the top. You know, the Microsoft-box-lookalike one that sha­kes to the point of making the vie­wer epi­lec­tic, with the ultra-sincere “Cograts, you have won our hourly prize” head­line. Uuugh. Just the very sight of it makes me cross.
I hope they’re being paid well for the pri­ve­lege of allo­wing their Gaw­ker brand to be sch­loc­ked like that.
But on a posi­tive note, Gaw­ker thinks the per­son who wrote that awful, dread­ful, dis­gus­ting, sanc­ti­mo­nious, self-pitying, lame-ass rant for Salon about how it sucks to be a “serious” mid-level wri­ter is… Amy Bloom.
Scha­den­freude. Works for me. Works for these fine authors too.
